“In the mountains of truth, you never climb in vain.”
-Nietzche
The mountains of truth takes a page from Nietzsche’s skepticism and aims to climb closer to truth. However, it reflects his standpoint which accepts that being completely objective is not possible. Thoughts, rumours and news on business, strategy and competitors will be critically examined. But to be practical, I will provide advice based on where most of the evidence is pointing today in the retail industry and will apply many theories and methods to analyse things a little deeper.
Therefore, the key message will be to take ideas from here and think about them critically yourself because there are no hard and fast facts: everyone is different, has unique perspectives and will react individually to different approaches.
A lot of the posts here will encourage you to change the way you are thinking about things which, by definition, is not going to be easy. Easy is not what we are aiming for; we are seeking out challenge and improvement. No one is going to reach the top of the mountain without hauling themselves up from their current comfortable plateau. A lot of the ideas will be nudges in the right direction and tools to take on the climb.
So get reading and absolutely approach it all with a critical mind – everything you read will be biased and I can promise you only this.
